I heard this song for the first time shortly after my mom passed away in May 2020. I was sitting and just scrolling on YouTube to make time pass by and this song came up in different arrangements. It’s written by Michael Mott. I listened to it over and over again. The lyrics in this song spoke to me. It explained exactly how I felt. I had so many people around me, people whom I could call if I needed to talk, that were there for me and who loved me, yet I was so alone. Who was I gonna call and where do I start, what was I going to say. To take that action to call someone, and bother was really hard for me. With no other family around I was in a Single City.

Later in the fall of 2020 I contacted my friend Paul Piper (PRP Productions) whom had just invested in a lot of equipment in his studio. I asked if he was interested in helping me record this song. I didn’t want to use a pre-recorded karaoke track so I was a little stuck. Paul is first and foremost an amazing drummer but this man can evidently play anything! Paul took this project to his heart and before I could blink he sent me a draft of the arrangements and music. And it didn’t take long before we met in the studio. We truly had a blast putting this together.

Initially it was meant to be released in December of 2020. I had contacted another friend of mine to help me create a video. Thought it would be an amazing thing to do a full musical project. We shot the video but when the day came for release, I had not even seen the finished video. Time went and the release got postponed several times. Between Christmas and New Year I decided that on my mom’s birthday, January 9, Single City would be released, with or without video. And sadly, when that day arrived, I had yet not seen more than the first draft of the video. But I didn’t want to wait, Single City was now out and official! We will see if the video ever will see the daylight…
