Fun Saturday

Friday was my SOC (Service On Call) day of the month and I was called in to work a night shift in Quitman. If you know me, you know that I am not a night person. I can wake up around 2 am without problem but working night shifts is really hard for me. But I survived, got it done and won’t have my next SOC day until end of July now. I went home from work and slept a couple of hours knowing that this was going to be a long day.

After lunch headed to Rockwall where we had the first day of the basic CERT G-317 class. I thought I was just going to show up, say hi and hang out for a little bit. I enjoy meeting the new volunteers and talk to them for a little bit. But I ended up teaching the stop the bleed portion of the class.

I like teaching Stop The Bleed, it was a while since I did it thou but the slides wasn’t as changed in the latest update that I thought it would be. The end part of it is a practical part and they got to try packing wounds and putting tourniquet on themselves and others. It’s a fun mess and we had a bunch of laughters! This group of people was so much fun!

A couple of days ago my friend Michele asked if I wanted to join her to a outdoor concert. By coincident it happened to be just two blocks away from where we had the class! Just perfect! Between the class and the show I went to one of the local restaurants on the Square; The Fatted Calf and had a honey Chicken fried Chicken. Delicious!

Met up with both Michele and Beverly at the restaurant and we went over to the San Jacinto Plaza where the show with Scott Sean White was going to happen.

It was a great show! I had never heard about Scott but he is a singer songwriter from Poetry, TX and really good! If you don’t know who he is, check out his Facebook page! The show was also well attended and thankfully the weather behaved, no rain but we had some magical lightning in the distance that just put a free lightshow on the music. It was awesome!

I had never heard about San Jacinto Plaza Music Series but this was a super nice little place that could fit a lot of people. Everyone had their own chairs, some brought food and drinks, kids was running around having a great time, the weather was great. Just an evening that was pitch perfect! I really needed that!
