Then And Now Challenge

I saw on a friends Facebook page the other day a “Then And Now” Challenge. Today I realized that I actually have two pictures that are probably as close to exactly 30 years apart that you can come!

The first picture is my school picture in 1988, I must be in 4th grade when this picture is taken. This is one of the very few pictures there is of me from my childhood. My family was not into making memories with pictures so there aren’t many of them.

Even though the adult picture is three years old, I haven’t changed that much since the picture was taken.

I can see so many similarities in myself as a little girl until today. My hair was already then a mess. My eyes are living their own life. I can tell that in this picture I am using my left eye as my dominant eye because my right eye is going inwards. Today I have learned what angles to take pictures in so it’s not as visible, but yes I am cross eyed (and I hate it). When the picture in 1988 was taken I had just been “released” from my eye doctor and didn’t have to wear glasses anymore. Well, that lasted for 30 years because I wear glasses again. But at the age of 40+ you can have it as a necessary fashion statement. At the age of 9 years old, it was not fun to wear.

While writing this post I thought to myself: what would I have told myself if I could give me an advice 30 years ago? And it’s not hard for me to answer. I would have told myself to listen to my inner feeling. If it doesn’t feel right – don’t do it. And don’t live your life to please others, it is your life and your dreams.
