The Show Must Go On

The game was on. Who was gonna win? The rain or the riders? Because if you didn’t know, there is no more stubborn people than the people in equestrian. It doesn’t matter what weather it is, they will ride! Period. You wonder where I got the mentality to walk in any weather (except lightning), that is where it comes from.

I had signed up to work at Texas Horse Rose Park outside Tyler today. For someone not interested in showjumping or equestrian for that matter, this must be the most boring event ever to work. But for me who loves the sport it is awesome! I get paid to watch beautiful horses and determined riders compete against each other and having fun. Do I wanna ride? Absolutely! And one day I will be back on the horse and show again. One day…

The weather was not in favor for a horse show today. It was pouring down all day. But no one cared about that. The thunder rumbled right over our heads but thankfully no lightning. Then it would be a rain delay until that had passed.

It was wet, muddy and just nasty. But I did not hear one single person complain about it. It was just to embrace it because this is what equestrians does! And in the end, even the rain had to give up. It actually stopped raining around 5pm, when it still was 2 hours left of the show.

I was soaking wet when I got home. Not very cold thou, the temperatures was still decent and there was not really any wind which helped a lot. And I was well prepared both with clothes, towels and food.

So at least I got my dose of horse smell and I even snagged some horse kisses. There were some super cute ponies there and beautiful horses. It was a good inspiration for me, even though I don’t do jumping (I do dressage). Good wet day simply and thankfully no patients.
