When I came home yesterday and was just getting out of my car a City of Wills Point truck drove by. His window was already rolled down and he yelled “you better mow that yard or you’ll get a ticket”. I got a little mad about it but only answered “I know”.
As you may know, I had a lot of problems with the city about this when mom was alive, around the time I just moved in. She didn’t have a mower nor the funds to have someone else mow it for her. So that was one of the first things I invested in when I came. Yet, after I mowed I continued to get multiple notes in the mailbox about it for a good while. It was like they sent out letter just on routine, not actually looking.
So when this guy said this yesterday it took me back these 6 years and I thought to myself that I better get this done today. Yes it was tall after the rain, but so is everyone’s else. The neighbor behind me is much worse for example…
I was doing okay when I started this project… but about 5 minutes in the spleen started aching in my side again… I decided to just ignore it. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to finish the entire yard since it is so tall it is draining the batteries faster. And I was right. I had about 1/4 left on the side.
Got the mower in the garage and was just going to get the mail and my ipad in the car… I got the mail but not the ipad. It is almost a year since I passed out last but today was the day apparently. Woke up by my neighbors yelling my name. Damn… the pain in my side was not to play with. They had already called for EMS. But when their QRV truck (Quick Response Vehicle) arrived I was already sitting up. And of course it was a medic I knew… Which is not always a bad thing… but still embarrassing. He took my vitals and a 4-lead… knowing there was nothing that could make me go to the hospital… disregarded the ambulance that was enroute. Except being sweaty, grassy and a little dizzy I was okay. It was just to get in to the house and chunk a bunch of water, take a shower and go to bed. That’s what I did. Took a couple of pain pills hoped that the pain in the side would subside. It did and I finally got to sleep.
One thing is for sure. I do have some wonderful neighbors. They checked on me later in the evening to make sure I was okay… so sweet of them.
I can’t wait to see what those bloodworks comes back to. Maybe today but hopefully tomorrow. And note to self; don’t mow your yard with spleen pain… it won’t work out!
