Solar Eclipse last week made me be behind with so many things. I don’t know why but the days after felt like I had been gone for a week. I had to refocus on the upcoming Downtown Forney Market that was on Saturday and even though I’ve done a bunch of shows now, this one felt more than it should have.
And the event went really really well for me. The second best event so far ever as a matter of fact. British Bash last year is the only event I made more money on the bottomline than this event. So I am beyond pleased!
As always the wind was a problem. I have learned how to overcome that now but a lot of other vendors had their tent fly off, thankfully no one was hurt. I also had the new banner 5H-Custom made for me. Absolutely love it! It turned out so perfect in the booth!
I try to avoid working more than 24 hour shifts at the ambulance. It is quite rough on me and often strains my body too much. But my boss called me Friday night and mandated me to come in on Saturday after the event. I was not happy about it. 36 hours at work is a long time. He promised that I would be able to get a break so I could go home and feed the dogs and the horses, pigs and cat that I’m taking care of. Ha, I know better… I knew that was absolutely not going to happen. If anything, he would forget about it or we would get slammed with calles and it would be impossible. So I called my friend Lea and asked if she was able to go over to my house sometimes on Sunday to give BamBam his meds and their food. Thankfully she was. And I was correct. I never got the time off. We weren’t that slammed but I never was allowed to leave either. Knowing that the dogs were okay was a big relief. The horses and the pigs have food on the ground and the cat can catch a mouse so I knew they would be okay.
Twix is disqualified as a guard dog though. He absolutely loved when Lea came in the door. They have met before but Twix is always so happy and friendly, he thinks he is put on this earth for everyone to love on him.
Surprisingly, we got to sleep quite a lot both nights during the shift. Thank God for that! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make the Terrell Chamber Luncheon yesterday if we had run both nights and barely had any sleep. But I was quite good and had no problems going! And it would turn out to be a winwin for me! Me and my friend (also realtor) Deana Elliot Boyd won the door prizes!
On my way home from the meeting I got so tired. I came home and had no other choice than go to bed. I have no clue why! I slept 7 hours the first night on shift and 6.5 hours the second night. Plus I had been resting when I got home for another two hours. There was no reason for being this tired after being up and moving for a total of 4 darn hours! But off to bed I went. And it didn’t take long until I was sound asleep. Didn’t wake up until 3.5 hours later. What in the world. Felt almost hungover. Had some work to do so it was time to sit in front of the computer for an hour. Suddenly I got a sharp pain in my right upper quadrant, where the liver is. I never have pain there! It took about 30 minutes for it to subside but that was so weird. Maybe time to go and get another checkup soon… the thing is just that my labs always comes back perfectly and nothing is ever done to help me. I shouldn’t say that nothing is ever done, that may be a little bit harsh. I did have low iron a couple of years ago and got a couple of infusions until insurance put an end to it. That’s when I came up with my own solution of getting the Depo-Provera shot to minimize blood loss during periods. Worked absolutely great! Except the weight gain… you can’t have everything. But… most of the times my labs comes back great and what can the doctors do? Say, its all in my head… and let me live with my shit. So therefore I have no desire to hear that over and over again and I don’t get checked up. But if it happens again maybe I’ll have to think about it again…
It is now Tuesday morning and I’m feeling okay. The Excedrin has taken care of the headache I woke up with so I think it will be a good day. Going to Forney Area Networking Group at lunch. Supposed to be a “special networking meeting” whatever that means so I am excited… See what that means later!
By the way… yesterday was my 5 year anniversary in EMS. Can’t believe that it’s that long since I walked in to UT Health EMS in Tyler for my first day of orientation… Time flies for sure!
