Canton Day 1 & 2

Well, needless to say, the Texas summer heat is not helping us out. Even though we are indoors other vendors say that both Thursday and Friday has been slower than normal. And I can only agree to that. I have sold 3 bags so far and a couple of cups of iced tea. My goal of handing out all the cards I printed doesn’t seem likely to happen unless I put them in people’s hands today. Yes, I am planning on being a little bit more aggressive to strollers today. I doubt that I will be able to break even this month though

There are three food places in Canton Marketplace. Two of them are open this weekend. Yesterday I tried BBQ & A Prayer and had a pulled pork sandwich and a side of potato salad.

It was quite expensive I though… $13 for just a sandwich, but when I opened it up and realized how huge it was I understood. When I then took my first bite I had to admit it was worth it. It was probably the most delicious pulled pork sandwich I have ever had!!! And it was so big I couldn’t even eat the potato salad. I had to eat that later when I got home. I can highly recommend this place, though be aware… I looked at the receipt they emailed to me this morning. They charged me $1.40 in service fee for using a card! FYI all small business owners, that is illegal in Texas to do unless you are a municipality! And there was no signs about that charge anywhere. I found it out looking at the receipt this morning… I wasn’t really happy about that but, what can I do? Suck it up buttercup.

If you go to Canton First Monday, bring cash! A lot of vendors doesn’t take creditcard. The service is miserable and it is hard to get the transactions to go through. We at the Marketplace are in a metal building and it is almost no connection whatsoever. So cash is your best option.

Back at it today… hope that it will be a better day and maybe can make a couple of dollars at least…
