Chop Chop

So I did a thing… something that I wanted to do for a very long time. But to find someone that you trust to do this thing is not easy. I’m talking about hair… My former hairdresser closed her salon and I have not been able to find someone else. I got a referral and texted that person but never got an answer. Then last week a coworker gave me another referral, to a Chris Robins. I texted him and got an answer right away. After some texting back and forth I got an appointment for today. I was so excited!

I love my hair. I have had long hair almost my entire life. I cut it short a couple of times but was never really comfortable with it. But my hair is something that I am proud of. With that said, having long hair is a lot of maintenance and my hair had grown A LOT! I had to have it in a braid every single day and to put it in a braid it had to be wet. You can probably imagine all the planning that goes into that as well as the amount of shampoo and conditioner that I use every DAY! So now was the day to get something new and fresh done.

This is how I looked walking in to Chris’ salon this morning:

I agree and admit, there are not a lot of people who can brag about their hair as I can (could). And last time I chopped it was 3.5 years ago. So my hair grows pretty fast.

I gave Chris three conditions… 1. No bangs. I hate it. It’s in my face and in my eyes. Not happening. 2. Need to be long enough to put up in a ponytail. and 3. I didn’t want to look the same when I left as I did when I came in. I had a vision about going blond but it wasn’t a requirement or condition. I left that and the rest up to him.

And Chris went to work… and it was a lot of work… I could almost feel the aliens coming for me there for a while:

And then there was wait… and wait… and wait… but it was worth every second! We had a good fun chat while waiting for the aliens to do their job šŸ¤£ After four hours of sitting in a chair it all turned out awesome!!!

I absolutely love it!!! It turned out so much better than I could ever have hoped for! It almost gave me back my natural colors and it has so much dynamic in it. It was absolutely worth both the time and the money!
Not only that, my head feels so much lighter now. And I won’t look like I have a birdnest when I just quickly fold it in a bun on my days off, it will look somewhat decent! I couldn’t be happier.

This was absolutely a change I needed! Will I miss my long braid? Absolutely, but it may come back at some point. I just needed it shorter for a while and I believe that this chop will help my hair grow both thicker and stronger!
