Founders Festival

Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do?!? Take off a day of work to work even more. Wake up early in the morning, load the car, brew tea, drive to the event, unload the car, fight with a tent, set everything up, smile to people all day long and hope for the best that someone will buy a bag of tea or two. Depending on the weather you may freeze to death or sweat until you melt. At the end of the day you pack it all up again, load it into the car and drive home. Unpack it all and then you are completely exhausted.

The answer is because it is a lot of fun! To talk to new people, hear people’s stories, talk about the products that I have worked hard on and developed, sometimes hear how much they like it. It is a blast! I may be completely exhausted at the end of the day but I have made so many fun memories!

On Saturday it was the Founders Festival here in Wills Point. One of the few events I only have three blocks to drive. I had to take the car because I have too much stuff to bring but it felt a little awkward.

The weather was awesome, a breeze but not too bad. The bags didn’t blow away at least. I had two absolute awesome neighbors and we had such a great time! I had also brought me some Iced Tea to sell and I was surprised how much I actually sold! It was awesome!!!

I need a bigger sign, like an A-frame but I couldn’t afford it before this event.

It wasn’t as much foot traffic as we (me and the organizers) had hoped but I had a great day anyway. All these events are only about exposure for me. To get the brand out for people to look at. If I break even with the expenses for the event, I am pleased. And I did! So that is awesome. I also had a girl coming up to me and said she had seen the logo and brand somewhere but didn’t know where. Most likely social media. But it doesn’t matter where, the thing is she confirmed to me that she had seen it somewhere and that is what matters! I am doing something right!!! Those words she said made my day!!!

Back in April, while I was on a blog break, I attended an event in Ben Wheeler. My neighbors there was the radio station KMOO 99.9FM. We had such a blast that day and when we parted I said that next time they have to play either some ABBA or my recordings for me and he promised that he at least could play ABBA. I knew they were going to be in Wills Point this day and hoped to be able to run over there. But in the meantime I told Lea, who was organizing the event that they had promised to play me some ABBA last time we met. So she went over there and said that I was here and needed some ABBA. And suddenly I hear my company name in the speaker followed by ABBA’s Dancing Queen! You know how happy I was! They remembered me! Later I was able to make my way over to talk to them too! So good to see them again!

I am so happy I did this event. It was such a blast! Thanks to all people who came out and supported the event and small businesses. It was a busy day because there were events all over the place. I think every town had their own event so the competition was hard!!! But I got the brand out and that was beyond awesome!
