The last two weeks has been rough. I have picked up overtime so I’ve only had two days off and on those days I’ve had to catch up and running like crazy and the second day was taken away by the search. I am tired and has a lot of pain in my body. Not really the greatest combination. So this weekend was very welcome. And one thing I will do is put myself and the animals first. Not what everyone else wants me to do.
I had promised Twix and BamBam to go on a walk with them first thing in the morning. Well they first thought I had to wake up normal time so at 2 am Twix made a very good attempt to wake me up. I was able to go back to sleep two hours later. I can’t blame him. He is actually looking after me!
Well I woke up at 7 am again and out for a walk we went. Nice temperatures and a slow pace. Two happy dogs, that’s for sure. When we got home I went right ahead to mow the yard before I got lazy. It was time to get it done. Thought about it when I was out there working. I don’t mow the yard because I want it to look nice anymore, I mow the yard to avoid a note from the City in the mail. That is pretty sad. It is still a lot of big burned spots in the lawn so it’s not the most beautiful anyway. We really need some rain!
Took a shower and headed out the door. First to Wills Point Ford to get an oil change on my car. It was much overdue. I was supposed to do it Tuesday but yeah, that didn’t happen. Even the staff at the dealership concluded that I drive a lot as I am there almost once a month doing an oil change. He is not wrong…
Then off to the barn. It was about 10 am at this point and the temperatures was starting to get up. For several weeks I wanted to re-organize and clean out the stall where I have the tack and feed. I just haven’t gotten the energy to do it. But today was the day. I had bought a tarp for the hay and I was motivated! I got everything out, raked out the sand, cleaned it all out (there was a lot of sticks, stones and insulation hidden in the sand so it took a while) and then in with it all again. It was quite a mess while I was doing it but the end result was awesome!
It felt so good to have this done! There will come more hay and shavings and when it does there is plenty of room. The hay is now stacked safely so it can’t fall on the owners kids. I was a little worried about that. They are 3 and 4 years old and loves to climb on things of course. And this is absolutely more my way of having things, neat and organized.
Headed over to Texas Horse Rose Park and met a friend really quickly. She had a pair of shoes for me that was awesome! Didn’t stay too long, wanted to go home and do that rest that I had in mind. Spend time with Twix and BamBam as well! We took a nice nap and the rest of the evening will just be relaxed. May not be able to sleep right away because of the nap but it’ll be all good.
They say that this weekend should be the last weekend with the heat. I hope they are right. I am done with Texas heat for 2022 now. I am ready for fall. Even though I know that it means that I will be cold and somewhat miserable. But I can work my horses, I can take my walks in the morning OR the evenings, not just right off the bat when I wake up. Just gives more options. For me it is less stress with colder temperatures…
Two more days of this weekend and I am going to try to do as little as possible. Laundry and house cores of course but nothing super advanced… it is my weekend!
