Close Call

Right before the show was about to start on Thursday night I had a notification of an email that caught my eye. It was from NREMT, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. But the email didn’t start in the way a mass email usually starts, it was more personal to me. So I opened it up and started reading. Baffled, embarrassed, mad, regretful.

Last time I renewed my NREMT license I posted about that here on my blog. Usually I am pretty good at removing personal information, phone numbers and stuff like that you know. But that time I put up a picture of my new NREMT license without removing the registration number. Don’t ask me why I didn’t do it that time. I have no clue. Honestly, I don’t have that many readers here anyway. Well lesson learned the HARD way. Someone had tried to use my card to seek a state registration for EMT and it could be traced back to that specific post and picture. WTF??? Mostly I am embarrassed and ashamed for making that beyond stupid mistake but also so very grateful for an organization that are so thoroughly and could catch this “scammer”. I don’t know if it was a Texas license they tried to get or another state. I immediately took down the picture from the post and website. How could I have been so stupid? I guess I was just excited and didn’t think. Good reminder, for sure!

But I’m also a little curious to who did this and why? There are mean people out there that does anything for nothing. I just don’t get it. And this blog have 5-10 visits a day which is mostly people I know. That thought is quite scary…
Trying to use someone else’s license will most likely be caught somewhere. You can look up every registered EMT and Paramedic on NREMTs website www.nremt.org to find out their status of their license. To the person who tried to get a state license with my number… go and enroll to an EMT class if you want to be and EMT. Seriously, it’s the best job ever but to try to use someone else’s license that way is absolutely stupid and not cool. There are companies that have classes so you can even get paid while in school… do it the right way!

Thank you NREMT for noticing this and sending me that email! Lesson learned and won’t be repeated next time I renew, that’s for sure!!!
