The Car Ordeal Continues…

My car is a 2017 Ford Explorer. Until last Saturday it has never been broke. It’s been running like a clock. So happy with it. Well, then it was the battery last Saturday. We got that fixed fairly easy. Then today… I was waiting at Walmart parkinglot in Terrell. The car had been running for about 20 minutes when suddenly it starts dinging “Overheated”. I’m like OH NOOOOO! Not now. So I start to drive down to Platinum Ford in Terrell to try to get an answer of if this is fixable easy, if I needed to find a tow truck or what the crap is going on. But before I even made it out of the parkinglot the light goes off. Ehh what? Isn’t it overheating now or? If you know me you also know that I don’t know shit about cars. I can drive them but if they break, I am NOT your girl!!! Absolutely not.

Made it down to Platinum Ford but they were not very helpful. They were not going to be able to even look at the car for at least 5 days. Not even look under the hood. Ha… I need my car! I am a single woman that drives an hour to work, this weekend is jammed with stuff I have to do and I can’t be without my car. I am not leaving it with you here until end of next week. Period. They said that I should probably not drive all the way to Wills Point with this or it would most likely overheat.

I was going to have lunch with a friend at a restaurant next door to the dealership so I dared drive there. When I was done with that I started to call tow trucks to get a price of how much that would cost. I have used 1st Choice Towing before and they have been great and they were the ones coming with the best price as well! The driver was so awesome, he even agreed of stopping at the bank so I could get in there and get some savings out in cash so I could survive this weekend. I know that this crap is not going to be cheap! Leon, the driver was awesome. So quick and helpful!

This is absolutely NOT how I want to see my car… on a car ambulance! Leon dropped me and my car off at Wills Point Ford. I had called first and knew that they would most likely not be able to do anything but I am a loyal customer to them, they always do my oil change so I wanted to have a Ford expert look at it. And they did not disappoint at all. They squeezed me in on a Friday afternoon to figure out what was wrong with my car. They figured out that it was the thermostat that was broke on it. But as expected, they would not be able to get to it until two weeks. Though they did think that I could drive very short distances with it so if I could find another shop that could fix it for me in town, there wouldn’t be a problem driving there. *Phew*.

A friend of mine had given me a referral earlier in the day when I asked him about my situation. He highly recommended Donna’s Automotive across the airport in Wills Point. So I called them and told them about my situation. They said come on down and let me take a look. So I did. The first thing he said was “let me find out if I can get parts until tomorrow”. My heart sunk… It is now 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon. How in the world would parts be able to make it in a timely manner so I can do what I have planned? We are moving the horses tomorrow! This afternoon has delayed me so much with all what I had planned to do… But thankfully he came back and said that the stuff will be here at 8am tomorrow. WOHOOO!!! I will be there with breakfast and coffee and cheer him on while he is working on my car so I can get going!

He thinks that I will be back on the road around 1pm. The job takes about 3.5 hours to get done he said. Then head to Alba (an hour drive) and pick up the horses and take them to the new barn. Hopefully everything with that goes smooth. We will find out tomorrow!

What an ordeal. It is now 4pm and I am totally exhausted. Also grateful that this all shit happens again on a day when I’m off and a weekday so I can deal with it!
