First of all; a BIG thank you to Brittany at Ikea Grand Prairie for inviting me to perform at your Midsummer Celebration and to Tony Palos for accepting the challenge to play some Swedish music with me! I couldn’t have done it without you!
Yesterday was just so much fun! I started the day with walking Twix and BamBam. That usually gets it to a good start of the day. And it sure was. Headed to Terrell to get my nails done so they matched the Swedish colors! I told the tech “do whatever you want with yellow and blue” and look at these!!!
On Thursday morning it dawned on me that my music stand was broke and I had nothing for my ipad. So I went on Amazon and ordered an iPad mount for my tripod. It said that it would arrive Friday at 10pm. I was praying that it would make it before I had to leave. And I was lucky, just after I came home from Terrell, this package came to my door! I was so excited and happy! Even though I had a plan B, I didn’t want to spend the money on it.
Got ready and headed to Grand Prairie to meet Tony and my friend Tracey. She was going to help me video and take pictures! So happy that she came along. We all really came from different parts of DFW. Me from Wills Point (East), Tony from Denton (North) and Tracey from Arlington (West). Writing this I realize we didn’t get a group picture of the three of us… sorry!
We set everything up and was actually able to do a livestream on Facebook. If you have about 40 minutes to watch it, here you are!
We actually did the show twice! It turned out to be much shorter than we thought it would and some new people had come as well. So after a short break I did some improvised acapella songs and we did some of the songs again. I have uploaded some videos from that on my YouTube channel that you can watch. They are also on Facebook by the way.
Brittany from Ikea was so kind and fed us after the show. Absolutely I wanted meatballs! Had to, right! But I was a little disappointed that they did not have any princess cake. I had to take a Daim cake instead. I love Daim cake but I had my mind set for the princess cake… well well, another time!
I had such a blast. One lady in the audience asked me to sing I Sommarens Soliga Dagar with her. I have not sung that for 25+ years so I had to google the lyrics. All worth it! It was just so much fun!
And of course I stopped by the food court on my way home and got me some Lingonberry jam and elderberry/orange jam with hard bread. I am trying to stay away from the sweets so I choose to not buy any of that (regretfully).
Some days are not fun to start your shift at 4 am. I wasn’t in bed until 10:30 last night… yeah, 1:40 am, when the alarm went off came very fast. But at 4 am I was somewhat awake and clocked in at work with a lot of happy memory from previous night!
