My mom loved flowers and gardening. And she was so good at it. She was amazing! I have never been good at gardening but I enjoy nature and flower. Yet it is not on the same level as mom. But I try. If you have followed this blog for a little bit you know that I have three projects going on. The yellow flowers in front of my house where I spray-painted the cinder blocks, the gardenia that Twix chewed on but is still alive and the memory rose of my mom.
Last week has been rough. A friend in the hospital after a severe stroke, long days at work and most of my time off has been at the hospital. I made sure his mom got to see him in the hospital yesterday. I drover about 300 miles and was gone from the house for about 10 hours. It didn’t feel that rough really. I was surprised when I came home how many miles I had done.
I let the dogs out and went back to water my Gardenia and rose on the back porch and saw that the rose is starting to bloom and the Gardenia is about to open as well!
It gave me a sort of happiness and peace that I haven’t felt before. I thought to myself “Mom, I get it”. I get why you loved gardening so much. To come home after a long day and see something like a flower grow and bloom is very satisfying. And for me whom never gets anything to grow, it was an amazing feeling! The rose is about to come with 6 more flowers! I can’t wait. The Gardenia only has this bloom right now but it smells wonderful!
Twix fulfilled the moment with his own kisses that only he can give! Even though it had been a long but good day, that moment made it all worth it!
