I’ve had to be quiet about it for a little bit because I didn’t know if it would happen. Now I know it will happen!
A week ago I got an inquiry from the contact form on this blog. It was a lady asking if I was interested in coming to Ikea Grand Prairie on June 24th to perform at their Midsummer Party. First of all, I was so humbled and honored to just be asked I didn’t really know if it was a joke or a real question. But I answered and it turned out that it was not a joke. They had gotten my information from someone in SWEA, Swedish Women Educational Association here in Dallas that had mentioned my name. SWEA is a wonderful organization promoting Sweden and supporting Swedish women all around the world. So whoever mentioned my name; Thank you!
Well, I was a little worried here. I don’t play the piano. And I would not even think about doing it at a big event as Ikea. So I had to find help in this matter. I called my friend and producer Paul to see if he knew anyone. He sent me a long list of people with five recommendations to start with on this list. I was worried. Think about it. This event is on a Friday afternoon, two weeks away. Musicians are busy on Fridays and they are booked months in advance. But I was lucky! Last night I got a confirmation from a keyboardist that will help me! It will happen! I am so excited! And nervous! What an honor to do this! Sing in my native language. Haven’t done that for years!
I am now in the process to figure out what to sing and find music for everything so we can start work on all of it. It is not a lot of time but I know that this musician is great so we will get it all together! I will spend every single free minute rehearsing for the next two weeks, that’s for sure!
If you want to come, let me know and I’ll tell you how to register. You need to have an Ikea Family account (which is free)!
