It is not too often I have to visit the vet with the boys. Usually it is during this time of the year, when the heat is coming in. Both of them has natural ears and that means ear infections. Last year Twix also got some skin issues and itching in his fold of flank that made me take a trip to Dr. Dan at Wills Point Vet Clinic. Twix was given a “super shot” (I can’t remember the name of it) that helped a lot. We didn’t know if he got this because of the fleacollar i had put on him or if it was the heat that caused it. It was later in the year. Well this year I have not put on a fleacollar yet and about a week ago Twix started to itch again. So now we know… it is a form of heat intolerance I guess you can say. So I made an appointment to get this “super shot” and also get both boys ear treatment.
Since both dogs are so eager to do something, traditionally we walked to the vet clinic. It is only 1.5 miles each way. What I didn’t realize was that it was already 88 degrees at 8:15 am. It was hot! Both the dogs and I was sweaty when we made it to the clinic. Thankfully I had brought some water for myself so I was good.
BamBam doesn’t like being at the vet. Who likes to go to the doctor really? But both of them behaved really well. It was over and done with in less than 10 minutes and in that time we also addressed Twix’s stomach problems and I got some Metronidazole to have at home if he gets sick again. It always happens on weekends and after hours so it is a comfort for me to have it at home!
I asked on Facebook if you could guess how much they weigh… They are both big boys. Well, Twix is borderline FAT!
Twix: 83.5 lbs (37.8kg)
BamBam: 144.2 lbs (65.4kg)
After the appointment we of course had to walk the 1.5 miles home. The dogs enjoyed it. I was sweating like a pig. It was a much needed shower awaiting when I came home! But I have two happy and tired dogs who have no desire to take another walk! And I got 3 miles in the books which I am not complaining about!
