On Sunday night a huge storm came through Wills Point and knocked out power in a huge area. Canton, Terrell and Athens was some of the other areas impacted by the outage. On social media people took their chance to complain and whine about the situation. Instead of being grateful for the great weather we had, somewhat cooler temperatures and the knowledge that there was a bunch of people out trying to fix the lines. I got so tired of all peoples opinion.
I had been invited to a cookout in Gilmer, TX. So my thoughts were all about the dogs. At first the event was going to be at a private house and I wasn’t going to ask to bring the dogs. But what would I do then? Normally Twix is in his crate, well that won’t happen with no A/C and almost 90F. Well I had a plan B that I was gonna go with but then it was announced that the event was moved to a park. Perfect! So no lunch for the dogs, they were going on a roadtrip with me! They are not any problems to have coming along, I was just worried about everyone else’s opinion of me having them there. BamBam is so insecure and won’t leave my side, Twix loves to talk to everyone. So after some convincing of Twix that this was what we were doing, both of them was loaded into the car!
The drive of 1.5 hour went well and when we got there both of the dogs jumped out of the car very happily to have stopped. Usually it’s a fight to get BamBam out but not this time. I intentionally made it there early so they could walk a little and take a breath. It was about 20 people at the cookout and we all had a great time! No One seemed to be bothered about them, more the opposite. They talked to Twix and BamBam was left alone. At the end of the night BamBam was even comfortable enough that I could walk a couple of steps away from him without him following but just looking at me. Despite the smell of hot dogs and hamburgers none of them begged for anything. They know they won’t get anything either. We got some hot dogs with us that they got when we came home. But I was a very proud dog mom when we left. Considering how little we are out in public, they are so well behaved!
I had two very tired and happy dogs when we got home. I think it took less than 5 minutes for all of us to fall asleep! It was so much fun to just get out of the house and socialize with people!
