Wrong Wheel & YouTube

April 9th was not an optimal yardwork day for me. Remember, both my lawnmower and my trimmer broke on me. Well yesterday was the day this was going to be fixed… or so I thought. I took the dogs with me and headed to Home Depot and got a wheel that the employee stated would work with my lawnmower and I got string to the trimmer.

When I got home I called the maintenance man, Dell, and asked if he was willing to help me get the wheel on because I couldn’t find a wrench. I know I have one somewhere but Dell knows this kind of stuff better than me. He would come by after work.
So while waiting for him I gave myself the task with the trimmer… there is a reason why I am not good at this kind of stuff. I don’t use instruction manuals, and other helpful tools to shorten my time to do something. I (my dumb ass) tries to figure shit out myself first. So what do I do? I start to take the trimmer apart. I see there is a little lock mechanism where you just have to screw and it all basically comes apart. Then I sit there and try to get the freaking string to fit. I am sitting there for 1.5 hour. Not once does it hit my little brain that YouTube is a great tool to get answers like this. Not once. At this point I am pissed and I give up. I put the stupid trimmer back together which takes another 20 minutes to figure out but I got it done. Mad as I am writes a post on Facebook that I am so stupid that can’t figure out a simple task like this. And someone mentions YouTube in the comments. Not even then am I willing to surrender to it. It took me another 2 hours to accept and look at this amazing software. And not did it make me feel any better. Just more like a f*cking idiot. Not only was it super simple to get the string in, you didn’t have to take anything apart. It took me less than 3 minutes to find out how to do it and maybe another 2 minutes to get the string on there… yeah… but on the other hand… I know how to do surgery on a trimmer and I know that without any instructions… *sigh*. I don’t know if I’m just stupid or stubborn…
To celebrate my victory I went out and did some trimming around the house until the battery totally died. I do know how to charge the battery without instructions… lol.

I’m though glad that I asked Dell for help with the wheel because it would turn out that it wasn’t the correct wheel. It wouldn’t work at all on this machine at least.

Why does Home Depot not sell original parts to a brand they sell so much of? Well my hunt for another wheel is on again. I will try to contact Ryobi direct and see where I can find and original wheel because there is no reason for me to buy more and spend too much money on it. I am super happy with my lawnmower and have no plans of replacing anything else than the wheel. But if I would have done this, I’m not sure I would have realized that it wasn’t working until it was too late and more was destroyed on the machine.

So… the lawnmower saga continues…
