I’m So Freaking Proud

I think I know my dogs pretty well. I know how they react in different situations, I can read their behaviour and I can figure out what they want Just normal for any dog owner that spends time and attention to their dogs, right?

So this morning we went out on our regular morning walk. Nothing unusual. Except that after about half a mile we got company. A black dog, male, came up to us. He didn’t seem to have any bad intentions at all but I was on my guard. BamBam is a nice dog but was Twix in the mood for playing or would he behave? This dog may flip from nice to aggressive in a second, who knew? I have two dogs on leash, one that is deaf, so I was on high alert. Tried to get the dog to go away but he kept going with us. Or more around us. A big circle. Not giving any threats, more that he needed a little companionship for a while. So once Twix and BamBam had accepted him being around us we just kept walking, figuring that he would find something more interesting to do.

But nope, he came along the entire rest of the walk. And was I proud of Twix and BamBam or what? This dog just wanted to say hi. He tried to instigate to play twice with Twix but I interrupted that since he was on a leash both times. Both Twix and BamBam totally ignored him and stayed next to me the entire walk. Even at the cemetery when I let Twix loose he stayed next to me. At that time we had walked 20 minutes with the dog so I figured that if they wanted to play and get rid of some energy that was okay. But nope. Twix was not interested. He was such a good boy! I was both impressed and proud.

It was a little sad to not let the dog in when we came back home. He does have a collar on but I know he has been roaming around in town for over a month. I was scrolling Facebook and saw posts about him for a while. Wish I either could figure out where he lives or take him in but that I can’t afford. I bet someone dumped him. He is such a nice boy but it sure looks like someone is feeding him.
