Pulled Over!

So I’m heading to work. It is 3 am and not a lot of cars out at this time. At least not on a weekday. A couple of 18 wheelers, an ambulance or two and huh… Canton PD…
As always when I drive to work I’m far gone in my own thoughts. I solve the problems of the world when I drive to and from work. No music, just me and the car basically. Sometimes I do listen to music or a podcast but not this morning. I had some troubles on my mind and that’s where I was in my mind.
Coming into Canton and I slow down as the speed signs tells me. It is 3 am so it’s dark outside. Suddenly I see a police officer coming from behind with his lights on so I put my turnsignal on and pull over to the right so he can pass. But he doesn’t pass! He stops behind me! What in the world!!! What did I do? I know for sure that I wasn’t speeding. I am very thoroughly with that in the morning because I know that they don’t have much to do so pull someone over for that is easy. My mind is spinning! I have no clue what I did. Why did he pull ME over?

He comes up to my car and says good morning and asks if I know why I got pulled over. I answered him that I had no idea this time. “Well, you didn’t turn your bright lights off in a timely manner so I just wanted to make sure you are okay”. Ehhh… yeah, that is not impossible that I was late turning those off. I do remember a block earlier that someone came and I may have turned them off a little late. “Yeah, I’m fine. I was just sitting in my own world and reacted a little late that someone came” I answered. So he asked for my drivers license and registration and went to check it up. I was sure that I would get a ticket for this… with how my financial luck has been this year, it was not an extra expense I wanted. Crap. For such a stupid thing too! Maybe he saw the uniform and could be nice to an EMT?
He came back with the paperwork and said “Here is that, you stay safe and have a good day” and walked away… Qwat? I looked at the paperwork and I looked at him and he just said again “I just wanted to make sure you are okay and not too tired to drive and you seem to be perfectly fine”. I must have looked like a stupid idiot. Well Thank you sir, and you be safe as well. I put the drivers license and insurance back where it belonged and I slowly started rolling. So confused. Thank God no ticket! He was supernice, not that he had any other reason but I realized how my mind had drifted far away from driving the car. I know where I’m going, I know where the stop signs and speed signs are… pay attention girl!
