Suddenly Twix and BamBam went berserk in the backyard. And no wonders, there was a big German Shepherd on the other side of the fence. I believe I knew where it lived so I walked over there and knocked on the door. No one was home. So I walked over to the neighbor to ask if I was correct. No answer there either. Well the dog had a rabies tag but I didn’t have my phone with me so I had to go back home and get it. Left the dog and ran home and brought with me a leash, hoping that the dog wouldn’t go far. He didn’t. I called Risingers vet clinic who had issued the tag. I was really surprised that first I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. Had to call back. Someone answered and she took the number and put me on hold for another 10 minutes. Believing that I’ve been forgotten and they closed in 2 minutes I called back again! And they wanted to put me on hold a third time but I said NO! Then she actually helped me but she was rude! I was clearly bothering her but I had already been on hold for over 20 minutes!!! She gave me the owners information and hung up in my ear. Good Grief!
I called the number but no answer. So I took a picture of the dog and texted to the number asking if it was their dog.
Well now I knew the dog’s name, Hunter, and the owners name but not the exact address, she forgot to give that to me. But Hunter and I went home to me. It was about to get dark and since I didn’t know when the owner would come home it wasn’t safe for him to be loose outside. I let Twix and BamBam out in the backyard so Hunter could be inside with me until we got hold of the owner. I wrote a note and ran over and put on their door in case the number I had was wrong. After a while I got a text back that confirmed it was his dog and that he lived where I thought he lived. I told him that he was safe with me and where I lived. And after about 30 minutes a knock on the door that Hunter had been waiting for. Daddy!!!!
He was very grateful that I had kept him safe until he came home. Well, thankfully Hunter had a collar with a rabies tag on so I could locate the owner. I will always keep a dog safe until owner has been found and some kind of arrangement can be done. That is what I hope someone would do if Twix or BamBam got loose! Now I know where he lives and that he is super friendly and I will text the owner if it happens again!
