I almost felt like a stalker or a very annoying person this morning. I blasted the same post on about 40 places on Facebook. In groups, on pages, on profiles, you name it. I also sent emails to all newspapers in the area that I could think of. And this is what I posted:
Want to help your community in times of need? EastTex Regional CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is looking for new members who want to make a difference. CERT is an organization through FEMA to help train and organize communities at the local level to help during disasters. We are sponsored by the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management, and are an all-volunteer organization that helps local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management when disasters strike, missing person searches, and public event support. We have over 190 active members and serve Rockwall, Hunt, Kaufman, Collin, and Van Zandt Counties and the Town of Sunnyvale. We would like to invite you to our next training class on October 16th & 23rd from 8am-5pm at the Terrell Police Department.
This is a FREE 2 day class that will teach you many preparedness tips to help protect your family as well as the basic skills needed by all ETRC members. If you wish, you can choose to be an active member of our deployment team and be put on our call out list for when we have emergencies. If you’re interested in signing up, visit our website and follow the links on the site https://easttexrc.org/join-easttex-cert/. If you have any questions, feel free to PM or email (wichmann.cert@gmail.com) me, I am the Kaufman & Van Zandt County Coordinator. All volunteers must go through a criminal background check. Ages 14 and over can take the class, but you must be 18 to join the active callout team.
People who see this post everywhere must think I’m crazy posting so much all at once. Maybe I am… but hopefully we’ll get some people signing up for the class! It’s a lot of fun to be a part of CERT… here are just a couple of pictures from this year…
