New Emergency ID

On July 28, 2020 I wrote a blogpost about my thoughts and recommendations in regards to medical ID. I have since after my first cardiac arrest had a bracelet on where it said that I am a heart patient and I have alcohol allergy. I have been a little annoyed that it said “heart patient” simply because it didn’t say much. So when my bracelet broke about a month ago I wasn’t really crying. It needed to be updated! So I went online to med-id.com where I bought it the last time to get a new. And voila!

Now it more specifies what to expect, a pacemaker. Still, on the bracelet not many letters can fit so it is quite limited. but my alcohol allergy is there which is super important since I’m so allergic. But it doesn’t even fit my full name so it had to just be Cecilia W.

But as I was browsing around on the website I found something that I really liked! It was a little plaque for the phone!

How smart isn’t this!!! It has plenty of room to tell who I am, my date of birth that I have a pacemaker and that I also have SVT and hypotension (low bloodpressure) and it also fits all my allergies! And I haven’t even utilized all the lines available!
What I also like with this is that I have my phone on me 99% of the times and in my job I often end up with the patients phone in one way or the other. Just a simple thing that I have to move it and how easy isn’t it to see then? I really liked this, both as a patient and as a healthcare professional.

So. As I said in my post last year, if you have any medical condition, I highly recommend you to have a bracelet or some kind of ID. Don’t expect us to use flashdrives or scan QR codes, we don’t have time with that. Make it easy for us! And if you have any questions or want my opinion, please don’t hesitate to ask!
