July is an expensive month… but it is worth it! It is the month when both dogs are going for their annual check up and vaccinations at the vet clinic. So off we went yesterday… First of all, Twix does NOT like car rides. BamBam has no problems but Twix gets car sick very easily. But once at the vet he is perfectly fine whereas BamBam is super scared. First thing: Weight. BamBam was 130lbs (58kg) and Twix is 74lbs (33.5kg). BamBam is perfectly fit and Twix is a little bit overweight but nothing concerning.
So now both boys are vaccinated with DAPPv, Lepto, Bordetella and Rabies and both of them are heart worm negative. BamBam also got his ear treatment that he gets every other month now. Since he is deaf he has an increased chance of ear inflammations and this EKT ear treatment works super on him! So I am financially broke but I have two dogs with a clean bill of health with new bling on their collars (rabies tags) so it is so worth it being broke for a while!
I’ve had many dogs throughout the years and I’ve administered thousands of vaccinations when I worked at the Animal Control Center in Terrell and it was very very rare that we had any reactions. But yesterday Twix was so tired! He usually does not leave my side even if I go to the bathroom, yesterday he didn’t care what I did, he slept. It actually got me a little worried. I was going to a private event last night and put Twix in his crate when I left and also put a camera on there so I could go in and check on him. This morning he was just back to normal. But I have to remember this to next year so I can plan on having an eye on him for the rest of the day.
