Kaufman County will have the vaccination center open every weekend as long as they get deliveries with vaccinations. So today I was back at TVCC Health Science Center in Terrell with an awesome group of people from EastTex Regional CERT.
I am so proud of this group of people that comes on their time off and give their time to help out the community. The strength and flexibility they show is just amazing.
It’s 8:30 am and a busload with 25 people from a retirement home comes in through the door. We don’t open until 9am to begin with and these people were scheduled at different times throughout the morning. Well we got a room set up for them so they all could be together, got CareFlite’s paramedics to give them their shot, monitored them and before we all knew it they were all done and out the door! We were not prepared for that amount of people to come at once and not before we even opened but we could help them and get them a seperate room and make it so smoothly as possible for them. It just made me so proud of my team and everyone working this event!!
As it was Friday, the classes at the TVCC was still ongoing. Last week this room was dark but today their skills lab was open and they were working in there. When the people passed by there they freaked out a little bit seeing four mannequins laying like this. It was quite funny to see how people reacted to this! I just wanted to push up a bed closer to the window and scare people even more but couldn’t do that… that would give us more work than we needed and wanted… but I found a rolling chair that I had a lot of fun with up and down the hallways after the rush… life won’t be more fun than you make it right…
Tomorrow is another day with vaccinations. A lot of work but it’s a lot of fun too. I got my miles in for sure. Just walking around today has given me more than 3 miles in the books.
