When it came to my work out of 2020 it was a roller coaster. It wouldn’t surprise me if 2021 turns into a roller coaster as well but that’s life. But that won’t discourage me to do my best at all times anyway.
I started the year with something quite unpleasant but necessary. Step up on the scale…
Well, it is a starting point. My goal is now to go back to 175 lbs. Have in mind saying that, it will be harder than previously since I am now on two steroids that will fight my weight loss progress. But I can do it, it may just take longer time and I may have to fight even harder to reach the goal.
Yesterday I had a vision to both take a walk with the dogs and take a power walk. Already there I encountered a little speedbump. I took my traditional New Year’s Day walk with the dogs in the morning.
But since it had been raining for the last two days I anticipated that there would be quite a lot of water puddles and I may have to step in some of them. So I decided to take my work boots on, just to be safe. Not thinking about that my heel may not really like that idea. But I made it through the 5K without problems
It wasn’t until around lunch that my heel started to be very painful. And I mean seriously painful. I was laying down in my bed and I could not move my foot. I was even looking up podiatrists in the area to call around on Monday to make an appointment… just that is serious when it comes to me.
With the pain being that bad I had no choice than skip the power walk I had in mind to do. I had to rest my foot.
This morning when I woke up the pain was still there but not as bad as yesterday. Last year I invested in a pair of Brooks running shoes and they have been helping me so much with this pain so I took them on right away. Let the dogs out and got dressed. The foot was uncomfortable but not painful. It was good enough for me to walk a slower walk with the dogs. Well, that is almost to fool myself because Twix won’t let it be a slow walk. Even if it isn’t a power walk, it’s not a stroll. So we got dressed for the chilly weather and out we went. And it turned out to be really really nice!
I still have that vision to take a 5 mile walk as well but have to wait until the afternoon so I don’t overwork my heel. It is better to hold off on that walk and get pain free since I have at least done this walk. And this walk is also the most important for the dogs. They really enjoy their morning walk!
I often hear that my workout is an inspiration to others which really makes me happy. When I came home from my walk today I was just about to post on Instagram when the idea came to create another account, just for the workout. With that I will be able to go back and see my own progress as well as inspire others to join. I hope to be able to show that if a 41 year old woman with weird cardiac problems can dot it, so can you. It is all about to start slow, set up reachable goals and put effort into it. Grab a friend to join you, read inspirational quotes and just do the best that you can. So I created walkingwonderwoman
It will also be an easy way for me to go back and see what progress I’ve done, to inspire myself to do even better. Sometimes you just need that kind of self boost to continue the journey, right?
