It’s the time of the year when the Christmas Parades are lined up every weekend. Last night was Athens event and I had signed up to help out at work. Honestly, I love parades. It just gives this kick off touch to the season and this year it’s just something special.
So off to work I went to meet up with my coworkers Keri and April and start decorating the ambulance. And if you think it’s easy to decorate this thing, you are wrong. Tremendous amount of tape was used and there are extension cords all over this box inside. But it turned out pretty good if I may say it myself!
Well, of course it looked much better when the parade started and the sun was a sleep and that was the point…
During the parade I walked/ran behind the ambulance handing out candy, or I would more say bowling it on the ground to the kids. But then I got a little too far behind from the truck and had to “run” up to it. That’s when I suddenly started to act. I don’t know where I got it from but I started pretending that I couldn’t catch up with the ambulance, they were driving away from me. When they slowed down I started to “Baywatch run” and asking if anyone knew CPR. When they stopped I crawled on my legs acting exhausted. I tried to get the float behind us to give me a bump in my butt and leaned up on an officer and a firefighter to get help. People thought it was hilarious and started laughing. The more they laughed the more I acted. I had a great time! The theatre monkey in me got out. I had a great time! The best part was that Keri and April had no clue what show I was putting on behind them! It was all improv that I came up with right there and then!
Yepp and after the parade we had to go back to the station via the hospital to hand out the last candy to the ER, fully decorated with the backdoors open!
It’s not often you see an ambulance going down the main road with the backdoors open, and with a bunch of Christmas decorations and someone smiling and waving at you! We got some honks and laughter! And that is what Christmas is all about for me, spreading cheer and joy!
