Diary

Am I the only one, at the age of 40+ that writes a diary by hand? Everything is so computerized and digitalized and it seems like it is supposed to be done on a computer or tablet.
I have been writing a diary on and off my entire life. There can be years without anything and then I get an urge of writing again for a while. I am raised with the mentality to not bother anyone with your problems. I am not allowed to take up anyone’s time by talking about them. So for me writing it down has become a great therapy throughout my life. And it is fun to go back and read.
Lately that urge of writing with pen and paper has come back. It did surprise me alittle because I am not really in the situation with a bunch of problems that I have to get out of my body. I am having a pretty good time of my life right now. Yes, I am missing mom tremendously and there are some health issues but hey, even roses have thorns. I have a job that I love, awesome coworkers, my dogs are healthy, I can pay my bills. What else can I ask for? But the need for writing for myself was there so I went online to look for a journal that I liked. That was actually a harder task than I thought. But after a while found this book

At least nobody can say it is their book… I was surprised by how much I actually liked this book because it wasn’t the type of books that I was looking at from the beginning but the fact that my name is on it was the final thing. It also fits in every bag so I can bring it with me to work and write when I feel the need to.

Something I always encourage our students that comes to our truck is to write down funny and awkward calls. I have done this (digitally) for many years. Started already when I worked for Terrell PD. You can never remember details about calls and to go back and read later is very often hilarious. That book will be my retirement for sure! The calls that is in this book is sometimes spectacular and I am laughing out loud when I read it. Good therapy, much recommended!
