Inspirational Appreciation

Pulled up to UT Health in Athens today and there was three girls sitting in front of the ER doing some awesome artwork with chalk. There was a lot of this when Covid started earlier this year as inspiration and appreciation for healthcare workers but most of that has faded away as time has gone and we have become more used to the situation. Covid certainly has dragged out much longer than we ever could have anticipated in March! It brought a smile to my face seeing the artwork already back then but for some reason it brought me even more joy today. Don’t ask me why…

These three ladies came from Caring Hearts Hospice. My mom was actually one of their patients for almost 2 years and the girl farthest away in the picture even remembered mom and our dogs! They were making some fall inspired art and some mask encouraging pictures. Wish I could draw and paint that well!

Every time we pulled up to the ER I looked at it and was really thankful for what they had done. Put some color and inspiration on a very boring concrete. I hope (and believe) that this simple little gesture these three girls did brings a smile to more people than just me. I hope that people actually takes that second to sometimes just stop and look at it and think about that someone was sitting here and did this so you could smile, just for a second.

Thank you ladies for all you do for your hospice patients and the community!
