I decided to step up my walking a little when the cooler temperatures came and take back a on the gym. Simply because I think it is so boring at the gym. I have vacation next week so I will try to go there a couple of times then. But the walking has worked out so awesome. My new schedule allows me to walk when I come home from work. If I don’t have the energy to walk a full 5 mile route I have this little fella to help me on a 3.5 mile walk instead
Twix looooves to go on walks. BamBam likes it but he is not as excited as Twix is. He knows where his harness is and he goes and sits next to it when he is bored to tell me that he wants to walk. Smart dog. They are really good motivation for me to at least get out and move my body those days I have no energy left.
This last week has really been an awesome workout week. I have been able to walk my 5 miles walks almost every day! Monday was a “doggie day” after work and today was my massage day so I only do 4 miles power walk on those days but I still did a doggie walk in the evening. As well, I had over 10 miles in the books yesterday so it wasn’t too bad…
Yes, all this walking may be extreme but it makes me feel good. First of all I am cleaning my head when I am walking. I think through issues, comes up with solutions, disconnect with reality sometimes and get wrapped in the music in my ears. My muscles get to work, I feel as I have actually accomplished something and I also hope that I may inspire someone else to move when I pass them. Some people loves running, swimming, weight lifting… I love walking. It is all about finding what you like to do and what your body does well.
This last week of walking has also made me a lot stronger! I am not so exhausted when I get home from a 5 mile walk. My palpitations has decreased significantly as well. It is simply just great to see that improvement! It is an inspiration for myself to be able to work harder and walk longer!
