Remember a month ago. I was feeling exhausted, tired and I had no energy what so ever to do any kind of workout. It came to the point where I actually went to the doctor to get help.
Now, some time has passed and I have been able to regain my strength again. I never got an answer of what the heck was going on last month. All labs that I was given back (never got the test back of the urine sample) looked good.
September is here and with that the fall season is getting closer. The temperatures are finally going down a little to a decent level. With that I will also be able to go back to my “normal” routines. During the entire summer I have been walking 5K’s (3.12 miles) to just maintain the walking. I didn’t want to push it more over the summer since I got a little dizzy when I did more and it was just hot outside.
While the car was in the shop earlier this week I took the opportunity to see how a 5 mile walk would feel now. I had not done that distance for a while and was just curious. I didn’t have any hurry anyway. And it felt good. Really good actually. It felt like a kick in my butt that I should be able to go back and do the longer routes again. So I tried the next walk, and the next, and then yesterday!
Whoop whoop! I was suddenly able to do a 5 mile walk every day I was off and it felt really good! I haven’t been to the gym while doing the longer walks, just no need to over do it quite yet. But I gotta keep this up!
And I must say, yes the new medications does help. On Saturday was the only day when I felt a little bit dizzy after my walk. I have a routine of what I do when I come back so I know pretty much what I can or can not do but that was the only time when I caught myself supporting me on the wall. Prior the new meds it was every walk, and sometimes even on the 3 mile walks. So it might be worth taking the pills despite that they make me retain a lot of water and gain weight… Even though I do weigh myself every morning, I have to learn to not put too much attention to what it says for a little while until my body is adjusted to the meds and to the fact that I can actually walk longer now. I may even be able to work that water off.
i also think it helps that I go for a massage biweekly. Karla with Body Balance Massage is doing a great job loosing up my muscles and joints. It may actually be that I have to increase that to weekly if I am increasing my workout.
It at least felt really really good to be able to do an entire week with longer walks and also feel good. To have that strong start of a month is really awesome, now it is just to keep it up! And for all new followers… yepp, I do walk 5 miles… you wanna join?
