This was actually a couple of shifts ago but I haven’t been able to post about it until now. We were out at a patients residence and they had a bunch of animals. The patient was okay and refused transport to the hospital. But when we were finishing up our assessment and getting our equipment together one of the kids came to show me this little fella!

The cutest little bunny! His name was Fluffy, very appropriate. He thought I was quite strange in my mask but agreed of taking a selfie with me! Such an adorable little thing!

We see all kinds of animals when we are on calls. Mostly dogs and cats. A horse now and then but this was my first interaction with a bunny. I am still waiting for a call involving a snake… I know it is coming. Never would I have imagine to have so much use from my time in Animal Control as I have had up until now. We come out to locations with aggressive dogs and it’s not because the dog is aggressive normally but here we come, most likely smell weird for the dog, looking and sounding like aliens with our masks, and we are taking their owners away. It is a good thing to be able to read and anticipate the animal at that time. Many times I have had to walk in with the sheriffs deputy or police officer with their catch pole to take care of the dog and get it secured before we can help the patient. Just because I have plenty of more experience dealing with animals in stress than they have.
