Last week I was back to the doctors office to check my Iron levels again. I didn’t think it was going to be bad again, didn’t feel that tired and if I was tired I pushed it under the rug with the explanation grief and stress. Needless to say the last month has been beyond stressful for me. I had been doing well during workout with decent times so I wasn’t worried really. But I was wrong. Last year when we started to investigate my anemia and found the Iron Deficiency my levels were down to dangerously low. Your hemoglobin levels are supposed to 13-16g/dl and at that point mine was 2g/dl. So I was given three infusion treatments. Last week my levels were down to 8g/dl so it was low but thankfully not as low as last year. But another set of IV treatments was necessary. So today was the first of the two rounds…
The actual IV treatment takes an hour to get done. It doesn’t hurt but it lowers my blood pressure very often so I have to sit for another 30 minutes and start moving in the chair before I stand up. Yes, I have passed out at the clinic before when we didn’t know how much it lowered my blood pressure.
I always bring a blanket and a fully charged phone and then I can sit an read on my phone, play Soduku or just scroll social media and the hour pass by quickly. The next treatment is a week from today and we will go through the same procedure again. Then I will be back in October to check the levels again.
