Today was the second day of Basic Training in Rockwall for our new CERT members. It is the most fun day because they do the exercises in the afternoon and it is always fun to see how they solve the different scenarios. I taught one of the segments in the morning about the CERT organization and structure. Went okay.

In the afternoon I played victim so they could find and rescue me. And of course I wasn’t really nice to them. I placed myself so they had to really think about several things, such as what way is the best way to move me, spinal immobilization etc. It was awesome!

It is so much more fun to play patient than actually be a patient! Today brought a bunch of laughs for all of us!

You always make a couple of new friends at these classes, regardless if they choose to join the organization or not! It was a great group of people, and here are just a couple of them with a bunch of us in the leadership team.
